With winter holiday drawing near, our class has a heated （热烈的） discussion about what to do during the holiday. Some are in favor of (支持；喜欢) staying at home, while others prefer to go traveling around. There is no denying the fact that both plans have its drawbacks as well as merits(优缺点) .
Those who feel like staying at home harbor the idea that (认为)they can enjoy the comfortable and convenient (方便的)environment without spending too much money and are able to do things they like such as reading and doing sports. On the other hand, the fact is that they will lose the opportunity to get to know the outside world on their own.
Compared with (与... 相比)staying at home, those who choose to travel think highly of (attach great importance to)the merits of traveling saying that (v-ing 做状语) traveling is of great help to enrich their knowledge(丰富知识) and broaden their horizons(拓宽视野) . However, the disadvantages are avoidable, that is, they have to take into consideration(考虑) the high expense and the possible difficulties they may come across (encounter vt. 遇见) during the trips.
